COMMUNICATIONS/EVENTS INTERN

Camrose Women’s Shelter Society operates a 22 bed facility that offers services in support of women and children requiring emergency shelter due to domestic violence, crisis situations or homelessness.

We are seeking a creative candidate to research and develop a strategy and accompanying protocols for two specific areas of communications: Social Media and Event Planning in order to:

1.    Social Media:  increase awareness in the community of women and children impacted by the long standing effects of domestic/family/gender violence.

2.    Event Planning: seek out creative approaches to fundraising in a small community environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a Communications Strategy and Protocols to initiate Social Media and Event Planning practices, recognizing the sensitivity and confidentiality necessary in addressing the needs of a women’s shelter:
•    Research and develop protocols to increase our online presence on social media sites, including FaceBook, Instagram and Twitter
•    Collaborate with our Social Media Team to ensure social media content is informative and appropriate for our audience
•    Fully understand the Mission and Vision of the organization
•    Evaluate effectiveness of social media protocols
•    Keep abreast of the latest social media best practices and technologies
•    Define most important social media KPIs (key performance indicators)
•    Monitor SEO and User engagement and suggest content optimization (search engine optimization)
•    Communicate with industry professionals/influencers via social media to create a strong network
•    Provide constructive feedback to Social Media Team
•    Evaluate success and submit report

CHILD CARE WORKER

Camrose Women’s Shelter Society operates a 22 bed facility that offers services in support of women and children requiring emergency shelter due to domestic violence, crisis situations or homelessness.

We are seeking one youth to work with our Childcare staff to provide support, care and developmentally appropriate programming for children residing in shelter. Children in this program will be variety of ages, developmental levels, and cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Many children in this program have experienced trauma and we strive to provided Trauma Informed service delivery to all children and families accessing this shelter. The youth hired for this position will provide in-shelter childcare, and assist with planning and implementing the shelter’s summer program for children.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Childcare Worker works as a member of Camrose Women’s Shelter team to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of children experiencing family violence. They provide support to children in shelter through coordination and implementation of in-house and community activities. They also encourage and promote healthy parent-child interaction through modelling and providing information and support to mothers/guardians.

RELATIONSHIPS
The Child Care Worker establishes and maintains healthy professional relationships with the women and children residing at Camrose Women’s Shelter.  They act as a support and role model for the family. They establish and maintain professional collegial relationships with all staff, volunteers and practicum students at the shelter.

TEMPORARY PART-TIME COOK - WEEKENDS ONLY

Camrose Women’s Shelter Society operates a 22 bed facility that offers services in support of women and children requiring emergency shelter due to domestic violence, crisis situations or homelessness.

The Temporary Part-Time Weekend Cook position is 8 hrs./day, Saturday and Sunday, for a total of 1 hours per week. The candidate will work from 9:00am – 5:00pm and is primarily responsible for preparing, cooking and serving three meals a day.

Preference will be given to candidates with previous cooking experience in a residential setting. The candidate will have the ability to lift 50lbs, access stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and will have a professional manner, possess excellent organizational skills, have compassion, and a basic understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and/or trauma.

Current Food Safe certification, Criminal Record check and Child Welfare check are required, as well as current First Aid and CPR. WHMIS training is an asset. Starting wage is $16.97 per hour.
