Camrose Women’s Shelter Society (CWSS) operates a 22 bed facility that offers services in support of women and children requiring emergency shelter due to domestic violence, crisis situations or homelessness. We are currently recruiting for the following position:
Classification: Part-Time, Non Union
Hours of Work:  30 Hours per Month
Salary:  $24.00 per hour

Required Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with a diploma or certificate in Accounting or Finance who have a minimum of two year's experience in SAGE 50 Pro. The candidate has strong financial literacy and organization skills, is detail oriented, and keeps accurate financial records, including managing financial data, entering financial transactions, both accounts receivable and payable, and organizing financial reports. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the bookkeeper is responsible for the timely preparation of monthly financial statements for the organization. Specific duties encompass: accounts payable, accounts receivable, posting journal entries, maintaining ledgers, account and bank reconciliation, calculating fixed assets and depreciation, preparing other financial or accounting reports as required, depending on individual grant requirements, donation tracking. The candidate has strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication abilities and is a team player. Others duties as required.

  • Maintain positive, courteous and professional demeanor when representing the Shelter in the community
Our Shelter maintains a policy of Trauma Informed Practice (TIP). Being “Trauma Informed” means having an awareness of trauma and its impacts, and speaking, acting and existing in ways that are least likely to trigger or further harm those who have experienced trauma. A trauma informed stance means applying the “universal caution” or approaching every individual as though they have experienced trauma.

The Camrose Women’s Shelter follows current Alberta Health Services COVID-19 safety protocols and will provide appropriate PPE for the candidate. Applicants will not be considered if they have traveled internationally within the past 14 days or if they present with COVID-19 related symptoms.
